Outreach
Through our Outreach programs we seek to follow the example of Jesus through the practice of the corporal works of mercy. Temporary help is provided confidentially according to need.
Giving Tree. At Christmas time we reach out to the needy. Children in foster homes and institutions, and adults (forgotten patients) in a hospital receive donations from our Giving Tree. The school children of our parish visit the home-bound to sing Christmas Carols and present the shut-ins with homemade Christmas cookies made by some ladies of the parish.
Mass of Remembrance. This Mass is said in November. This Mass is for all our parishioners who entered eternal life during the previous year. After Mass their family and friends are invited to the Church Hall for refreshments, to gather support from others and share their stories if they wish. Reading materials are available.
Monthly Food Collection. The third weekend each month canned food and other non-perishable items are collected and distributed to local food pantries.
Narcotics Anonymous. Our parish hosts the group every Thursday evening at 8:00 in the lounge.
Poor Person's Supper. During Lent we have 'A Poor Person's Supper' of Homemade Soup and Bread. The money raised at this meal is used to assist the needy. In addition to reaching out to others this meal provides the opportunity for parishioners to share a meal together in friendship.
