Parish Mission Statement
We, the faithful of SS. Cosmas and Damian Parish, in communion with the universal Roman Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, recognize our call to grow as a faith community. Accepting the privilege and the challenge of this call, we honor this commitment by answering our baptismal call focusing on the five dimensions of discipleship: worship, community, evangelization, education and service.
Worship is our participation in all forms of prayer and the sacraments, especially the celebration of the Eucharist.
Community is the bonding as Church and family of God. While preserving our Italian heritage we are inclusive, reaching out to others with welcoming hospitality.
Evangelization is faithfully living and witnessing our faith in Jesus Christ, especially by joining in the healing ministry of our parish patrons, SS. Cosmas and Damian.
Education is our sharing of Jesus Christ through our words and actions to all stages of parish life, and providing opportunities and enrichment for all parish members.
Service is our response to community needs, working for peace and justice, meeting the needs of our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be: spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social.
We pray to Father, Son and Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, to whose care the Archdiocese is consecrated and through SS. Cosmas and Damian, our parish patrons. May the Lord of Light guide us in our earthly journey and to our heavenly home.
